2. Conduct home buying seminars in your area. When the seminars become popular, invite your local media to attend. At the least, send them a press release about it. Get some quotes from happy attendees and include them in your release.

3. Is there a weekend "Homes" show in your area? In Austin, Texas, we have "Hot on Austin," a Saturday program about homes for sale in the area. Hunt down the editors and producers of your local program. Pitch yourself as an expert on local real estate conditions, and strive to build a relationship with them. Send them relevant news and articles from time to time.

4. Publish articles online to position yourself as an expert. Find out what key phrases your target audience is searching on the Internet, and then publish articles focuses on those key phrases. Save time and increase your coverage by using article distribution websites.

Public relations can strengthen your real estate marketing program with credibility and targeted exposure - and for a fraction of the cost of traditional advertising. But only the patient and persistent need apply. PR takes time and effort, but the lasting results are well worth the effort.

If, years hence, people remember anything about the TV game show Who Wants to Be a Millionaire?, they will probably remember the contestants' panicked phone calls to friends and relatives. Or they may have a faint memory of that short-lived moment when Regis Philbin became a fashion icon for his willingness to wear a dark blue tie with a dark blue shirt. What people probably won't remember is that every week Who Wants to Be a Millionaire? pitted group intelligence against individual intelligence, and that every week, group intelligence won.

Who Wants to Be a Millionaire? was a simple show in terms of structure: a contestant was asked multiple-choice questions, which got successively more difficult, and if she answered fifteen questions in a row correctly, she walked away with $1 million. The show's gimmick was that if a contestant got stumped by a question, she could pursue three avenues of assistance. First, she could have two of the four multiple-choice answers removed (so she'd have at least a fifty-fifty shot at the right response). Second, she could place a call to a friend or relative, a person whom, before the show, she had singled out as one of the smartest people she knew, and ask him or her for the answer. And third, she could poll the studio audience, which would immediately cast its votes by computer. Everything we think we know about intelligence suggests that the smart individual would offer the most help. And, in fact, the "experts" did okay, offering the right answer--under pressure--almost 65 percent of the time. But they paled in comparison to the audiences. Those random crowds of people with nothing better to do on a weekday afternoon than sit in a TV studio picked the right answer 91 percent of the time.

Now, the results of Who Wants to Be a Millionaire? would never stand up to scientific scrutiny. We don't know how smart the experts were, so we don't know how impressive outperforming them was. And since the experts and the audiences didn't always answer the same questions, it's possible, though not likely, that the audiences were asked easier questions. Even so, it's hard to resist the thought that the success of the Millionaire audience was a modern example of the same phenomenon that Francis Galton caught a glimpse of a century ago.

As it happens, the possibilities of group intelligence, at least when it came to judging questions of fact, were demonstrated by a host of experiments conducted by American sociologists and psychologists between 1920 and the mid-1950s, the heyday of research into group dynamics. Although in general, as we'll see, the bigger the crowd the better, the groups in most of these early

experiments--which for some reason remained relatively unknown outside of academia--were relatively small. Yet they nonetheless performed very well. The Columbia sociologist Hazel Knight kicked things off with a series of studies in the early 1920s, the first of which had the virtue of simplicity. In that study Knight asked the students in her class to estimate the room's temperature, and then took a simple average of the estimates. The group guessed 72.4 degrees, while the actual temperature was 72 degrees. This was not, to be sure, the most auspicious beginning, since classroom temperatures are so stable that it's hard to imagine a class's estimate being too far off base. But in the years that followed, far more convincing evidence emerged, as students and soldiers across America were subjected to a barrage of puzzles, intelligence tests, and word games. The sociologist Kate H. Gordon asked two hundred students to rank items by weight, and found that the group's "estimate" was 94 percent accurate, which was better than all but five of the individual guesses. Its true.

If I were a negative person I would think that Ive arrived too latebut perhaps Ive arrived just in the nick of time.

I have spent many months reading EVERYTHING I could find on internet marketing. I purchased so many products that I received a phone call one night from Credit Card Fraud to check that my card hadnt been used illegally as there were SO MANY transactions!

Ive also joined what I consider to be a very good ebook reseller via a monthly fee giving me reprint rights to more ebooks than I could count, only to read on a discussion board of one of the most respected net gurus that it is now considered that ebook marketing is dead!

Well, what do you think I thought when I read that little beauty? Suffice it to say, it cant be printed in this article.

My mind went frantic. Was all my research and hard work for nothing? What was I to do? Id spent hundreds and hundreds of dollars (lets leave it there shall we) in the past few months buying rights to productsreading obsessively (all before a website was even created) to be told that every ebook I now had rights to was, in effect, worthless?

It cant be. Or can it? :O(

If it really IS dead is that a good thing or a bad thing?

Well, I do know one thingit means HARD work. But Ive never been afraid of hard work and I always seem to have done things the hard way so it is NO surprise to me that now that Ive finally found what Ive been looking for all my life everything has changed.

Who do we have to thank for this? Hmm, let me guess. Pirates who have stolen ebooks without permission and onsold them themselves (keeping the profits) and socalled ebook authors who have given the market a bad name by writing ebooks many consider junk mail, full of fluff and full of links, and seemingly making the industry worthless.

I am one of the biggest fans of viral marketing but perhaps weve inadvertently given people the impression that ebooks have little worth when we give them away free.

What happens now I believe will be a self-cleansing process and for those serious internet marketers out there that is great news.

That means the flybynighters promising $100,000 in 2 months wont last; the ebooks containing nothing more than jibberish and affiliate links wont be read; and people throwing money at net businesses hand over fist will become more educated.

And now is our chance to educate those people that there ARE businesses on the net who are professional, dedicated, honest and extremely hardworking individuals who are here to stay.

And if times are changing, then we must change with them. If ebooks are now considered dead we have the uneasy task of re-educating our prospects and customers that, no, ebooks are not deadbut ebooks teaching nothing and offering nothing have had their day!

And that should be applauded because that means ebooks (in whatever format) filled with fresh, exciting profit pulling ideas can now stand up and be counted.

True, the road ahead will no doubt be harder than it was before and our boots will get many scuff marks along the way, but I have always enjoyed the road less travel and I hope many of you will join me on this interesting journey ahead.

Customer Review: Good next to your desktop--Poor when using with your HDTV

I purchased this Wave keyboard/mouse combo planning to use it with my HDTV. Since I've bought a big LCD, instead of browsing the internet on my tiny laptop screen, I hook it up to my TV and use that as a monitor. The downside is that I need a cordless keyboard/mouse combination to actually control the computer. I stumbled across the Wave combo and loved its fantastic reviews. One item that caught my eye was some people said they had trouble using keyboard while sitting on their couch about 8 feet away from their computer. I should have listened to those reviews, but instead listened to the other reviews and manufacturer claims extolling the great signal strength. They were unfortunately wrong. I should have gone with the Logitech diNovo Edge. But first, the good.



The keyboard, while a little bulky to keep on your lap, is excellently designed. The curvature of the keys does make an impression on your fingers and feels very comfortable typing. Plus, the inclusion of the numberpad on the right makes it easy to type out strings of numbers. The best feature, however, is the redesigned home key row (where they put page up/down, home/end, insert/delete). Back in the past, when hitting home or end or delete, I'd often accidentally hit that annoying insert key as well. Then, while looking down at a piece of paper while typing, I'd realize that I'd just typed over a significant part of my essay. How annoying! Thankfully, the Wave keyboard moves the insert key up to the top, by the f12 key so you don't accidentally hit it anymore. Such a small but meaningful change. I'm surprised it's taken so long to get around to that!



Unfortunately, the keyboard's excellence fails to make up for the mouse's mediocrity. If you've been using the standard microsoft mouse for the past five years, then maybe you'll be fine with this mouse. For me, a Logitech VX Revolution at my work computer has spoiled me. The included mouse in this set doesn't have the extra buttons or ergonomic design of the newer mouses on the market. You may think that's ok, but after using the VX Revolution, my hand feels too cramped going back to a previous generation mouse. Trust me--try the VX Revolution (or similar style mouse) and it will change your life.



Further, it's difficult to use the mouse on my couch. Sure I can get a mousepad and move the mouse over that, but it feels uncomfortable. It's just not practical to use the mouse when browsing the internet from your couch. A much better bet is to purchase a keyboard with a built-in trackpad, like the diNovo Edge.



Lastly, the signal strength is just way too poor. While the keyboard was generally fine, sitting 6-8 feet from my TV and computer caused serious problems with the mouse. Also, there needed to be a clear and unobstructed line of sight from the receiver to the keyboard and mouse. While the keyboard is good, the signal strength is just not practical enough to use beyond 1-2 feet. My best recommendation is to go with the fantastic Logitech diNovo Edge, whose bluetooth signal enables you to be anywhere in the room.

One of the most important elements of a newsletter is the title. Not only the main title itself but also the title of each separate news piece, as well. You want something that will peak your customers interest grab their attention.

There are many companies that offer low cost newsletter management packages, for businesses of all sizes. They are well worth the money when you consider the time you save when utilizing this service. Depending on the size of your newsletter (number of pages) and the number of subscribers that receive your newsletter each month, you can literally save hours of work with one of these packages.

Most of these budget newsletter services offer free trial periods, online tutorials and some form of live help, via either a toll-free number or live online option. They do their best to offer more, to ensure you will choose their particular service.

You wont receive hundreds of subscribers overnight, but you will attract readers that probably would not have found you otherwise. Lets face it, every new subscriber is a potential customer and obtaining new customers is what you are striving for!

Newsletters do work. With a little effort on your part they will work for you, even if your marketing budget is a small one.

DEVIL HUNTERS (1989) is a convoluted Hong Kong crime thriller with enough kung fu, shootouts, explosions and gratuitous sadism to keep most jaded HK action fans satisfied. It deals with the efforts of a host of characters to bring down a Hong Kong drug lord. Not only are the cops after him, but so are a bunch of other people with grudges, including Abby, a mysterious kung fu-fighting young woman (Moon Lee). The drug boss's own lieutenant, Shing, played in wonderfully snaky fashion by popular HK villain Francis Ng, is also out to topple him. The poor man hasn't got a friend in the world until Abby hides him from the others and outlines her demands. But then Shing gets into the act and paves the way for a massive final confrontation involving all concerned parties. In addition to Moon Lee and Francis Ng, other familiar players in the large cast include another fighting femme, Sibelle Hu (HARD TO DIE, CHINA HEAT), Ken Lo (DRUNKEN MASTER II), and Raymond Lui (LORD OF THE EAST CHINA SEA).

The film is notorious for its final stunt, in which the stunt players for the three leads are caught in a premature explosion and catch fire just as they leap out of the building. The film exploits this accident by replaying it at the very end in slow motion, telling us what happened and including a closing sentiment wishing the injured parties a speedy recovery!
